Wk 1

After a layoff of 3 weeks for a cancelled game and Christmas, the Clissold U8's New Year footballing calendar kicked off with a winning performance that somehow only managed to produce a goalless draw. Quite how the ball managed to stay out of the opposition's net was a complete wonder as Clissold had the lion's share of possession and peppered the opponents' goal with chance after chance after chance. Even a nicely placed Oscar penalty crept the wrong side of the post. Also the move of the match, with Oscar flipping the ball over his head on the wing and turning to run with ball only again to place it wide of the post. The most one sided 0 - 0 draw we'll probably see this season.

The boys managed to regain a bit of their touch in front of goal with a 3 – 0 win this week. Samual who was full of power and running scored 2 goals (one a well taken penalty) and Dara too managed to squeeze one in. A special mention goes to our resident keeper Remy who came out of the goal to have a second half run out in defence and was impressive enough with his positional play and solid tackling to win the players vote for man of the match.

Wk 3

They must be our bogey team. We drew 0 – 0 with them just a couple of when we should have won and now we lose 1 – 2 to them. We dominated the game without playing that well and were undone by our lack of touch in front of goal and two unfortunate defensive mishaps that gifted them the win. Still only our second defeat of the season will make us stronger and force us to work on a few things in training ready for the second half of the season.
