So Many Goals We Almost Lost Count

It was hard not to feel sorry for the opposition. Due to FA regulations we cannot mention them, but we wish them well, knowing they will undoubtedly get better as the season progresses. For Clissold Rangers' new under-8s side, it was the best possible start: a 14-0 romp, with goals spread throughout team.

Clissold Rangers
Supporters basking in the glorious Indian summer sun were treated not just to a goalfest from the Clissold boys but to an all-round solid display of passing, dribbling and dogged determination to win and protect the ball.
Their collective performance matched the high expectations for this group of lads, all of whom merit their inclusion in this year’s squad.
Oscar rocked in his new role as captain, arguably scoring the most spectacular of efforts when he thumped in Maxwell's low drive. Samuel powered his way to 4 goals, Seydil quickly slotted home a second-half hat-trick, Manolo, industrious and always full of running, grabbed himself a brace with Archie and Daragh providing masterclasses in goal celebrations after they too netted.
Ferdy also got in on the action, while the energetic and nimble display from Keiran almost added to the goal tally. Keiran, the youngest in the side, will undoubtedly get plenty of goals as the season progresses.
The managers can be pleased too with the solid defensive display of the whole team especially Onye and Archie who mopped up everything, leaving keeper Remy to twiddle his thumbs in the Sunday sun.
No doubt there will be much tougher, tighter games this season when Remy will be called upon to defend his goal, but judging from Clissold’s first game, they have a real solid foundation to build on.

Any chance Arsenal can buy the whole team and then draw beards on them.....
