A Hackney estate agent is offering a converted garden shed as a "one-bedroom" studio flat" located close to transport links. Is this the only way to afford a property in North London these days? Would you rent a shed? http://tinyurl.com/2e84snn

No matter what improvements have been made around Finsbury Park it still looks like a dump. Shabby old buildings abound, Blackstock Rd/Finsbury Park end looks like a street out of a deprived area from some very poor Country.
I believe that all the buildings should be demolished from the Blackstock Pub in both directions, from top end of Blackstock Rd on both sides to well past the new College, & also from The Blackstock Pub to Barclays Bank along Seven Sisters Rd, the Pub itself always looks an eyesore as well as most of the buildings along there. The buildings along either side of the Post Office to both corners right & left should also be demolished as they are also an eyesore. Every time i go about Finsbury Park i cant help thinking what a dirty looking area it is, ( What happened to all the millions that were provided for improvements a few years ago ? )
It appears that the Planners cannot get it right, they tinker about with small works here & there instead of knocking the whole lot down & restart from scratch.
Many local people have said how they are ashamed to tell anyone that they come from Finsbury Park because of its deprived appearance
A large Supermarket is also a real necessity in the area, with car parking facilities similiar to Sainsburys or Iceland in Harringay, all these years & there has never been a large Supermarket planned for Finsbury Park, all the people around the area have been neglected in one way or another. There are too many Cafes by far & too many small shops in Blackstock Rd, all these Cafes etc are not there for local people, they are there for outsiders who come to the top end of Blackstock Rd & who stand around blocking the pavements until late at night. Do none of these people go to work ? how are they able to afford to hang around the streets of Finsbury Park day in day out ?. In my lifetime i always worked, & i would never have had the time to hang around any streets each & every day even if i had wanted to.
The whole area needs to be changed by demolishing all the old buildings & replacing them with new facilities for local people, & those who stand around & block the pavements etc should be prevented from doing so, in the same way that begging should be stopped, everytime i go there i am pestered by beggars looking for spare change etc, & the rest of the time i have to pick my way through people standing blocking the pavement & lying up against walls, all these people should be moved on.
I am totally fed up with the whole situation & i may move away from the area altogether after living here for 50 years.
