Why does everyone now say "Can I get xxxx?" instead of "Can I have xxxx?" My Christmas, too much snow and no flights rant!!

I know what you mean - I noticed this creeping into conversation in the last few years. Like a lot of modern parlance, I think it comes from our cousins across the Atlantic. Channel 4's primetime comedy programming has a lot to answer for!
