The Metropolitan Police and Haringey Council are working with the London Fire Brigade to hold a joint "week of action" in Harringay ward from Monday 11 October. The week of activities aims to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and make Harringay ward a cleaner and safer place to live. If you live north of the park in the "Harringay ladder", there are surgeries, patrols and drop-in events taking place near you all week.
The week of action will tackle Harringay's ward priorities of fly-tipping, burglary and anti-social behaviour by motorists. Police will be carrying out crime prevention surveys, and the Fire Brigade will provide fire safety advice and carry out free home fire safety visits with free smoke alarm fittings.
Police Community Support Officer Yildiz Ali, of Harringay Safer Neighbourhoods Team, and Civil Enforcement Officer Geraldo Eghan will be on rubbish dumping patrols during the week, and residents are invited to join them. Operation 'Stop It' tackles fly tippers by stopping and searching vehicles carrying waste. Vehicle owners carrying waste without a licence can be prosecuted and fined.
Other operations will include screening arches, traffic patrols, and street sweeps, in which un-taxed vehicles will be identified and dumped waste reported or removed.
There will also be lots of opportunities for the local community to meet with police and other agencies, including a police stall at Arena Retail Park, Green Lanes on Saturday 16 October. Visitors will be able to obtain a 10% discount voucher for home security and fire safety equipment from Homebase, Arena Retail Park, valid only on Saturday 16 October 2010.
Harringay ward Councillors will be holding open surgeries at Paul Simon Estate Agents (N4 1AQ), where PC Glyn Kelly, of Harringay Safer Neighbourhoods Team, will be available to deal with any police related issues. Surgeries take place on Tuesday 12 October from 10am to 2pm.
Cllr Nilgun Canver, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: "This week of action provides us with a chance for all agencies to work together to tackle the main issues, whether that is rubbish dumping, irresponsible landlords, fly-tipping or untaxed vehicles. This will be a concentrated effort to clear up the area and remind residents that illegal and anti-social activities that blight our area will not be tolerated."

Lise - your use of this photo is misleading. It was taken about 1 mile away from the area you're writing about in an area with much more sever dumping problems that Harringay - http://tinyurl.com/2fxfld7
I'm sure you'll now want to correct your error and remove it.
