Runners taking part in both the 5k and 10k Races for Life in Finsbury Park this weekend will have the opportunity to warm up with a routine from Popdance, a new way to get fit and learn fun dance routines to pop tunes. Supporters and race watchers are welcome to join in too!
Popdance will help you get your groove on to some great pop tunes
Popdance was set up in St Albans in 2009 as a relaxed adult dance class with the emphasis on fun and recreation. Classes are set to classic pop music and are a great way to meet people, try out some moves, and get fitter without having to commit to a hardcore gym routine.
"Popdance was created for people like us," says co-founder Sue Wybrow, "adults who want to have fun, take time out of our busy lives, relive a bit of our youth and learn dance routines to the kind of music we like from the 80's, 90's and modern day. There's no pressure, it's all just for fun and getting a bit of exercise without realising it!"
Dancers can expect to learn routines to artists including Wham, Madonna, Kylie, Michael Jackson Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and Girls Aloud, with special themed routines for Halloween and Christmas. No previous dance experience is required, and Popdance is open to anyone aged 18 years and older.
Classes will be launching in Islington this September at Esporta on Islington Green (N1 2SD), on Thursday nights from 8 to 9pm. For a free taster session, book at this page.
