If you live in N4 and are a keen cyclist, you might already know abut Finsbury Park Cycling Club. Established in 1883, it is one of the oldest cycling clubs in the UK, and has been in continuous existence for almost 130 years. The club holds the distinction of being the birthplace of the cycling Time Trial, initially in a bid to disguise racing activity, and now hosts a range of cycling races and activities for members.

Cycling in the park - clean, green, fun
Finsbury Park Cycling Club offers opportunities to try track racing and time trials, as well as more demanding styles such as road racing, hill climbs and cyclo cross (off-road races on circuits including obstacles and steep climbs). For less competetive riders, the club also organises Audax untimed events over a set route.
New riders are welcome to join FPCC's club runs from Potter's Bar every Sunday. Runs start at 9.30am and cover 40-50miles, returning around 12.30pm each Sunday. Riders can contact the club with questions, or just turn up the day - the meeting point can be viewed here.
For information about inclusive cycling in Finsbury Park, see our feature on Pedal Power. Look out too for the return of Bike Week and cycle training events next summer.

ReportJust to mention that our annual Reliability Ride (run along "sportive/audax" lines, with choices of 40 and 60 mile distances) will be taking place on 20 February from the Cricket Club on The Walk, Potters Bar at 9am. Participants will get a map and directions taking them on a scenic circular route of quiet Hertfordshire lanes with the opportunity to ride in groups or on their own. Potters Bar can be reached in 10 minutes by train from Finsbury Park station. There will be a modest entry fee with proceeds going to charity.
