Sports fans, gym bunnies and fitness nuts are well catered-for in Finsbury Park, with an array of clubs, sports facilities and leisure activities to choose from. Here's our roundup - feel free to add any we've missed below!

If you find the atmosphere of a health club helps keep you motivated, there's a choice of several in the Finsbury Park area. Fitness First on Green Lanes offers a range of classes and a variety of gym equipment, and there are personal trainers on hand to help you acheive your fitness goals. Virgin Active in Crouch End also offers both group and individual exercise programmes, and has its own pool and spa facilities to keep you looking and feeling your best.

The Sobell Leisure Centre on Hornsey Road is partially closed for refurbishment this summer, but activities outside the main sports hall and health suite will continue. Sobell's brand-new ice rink is now open, and to dojo, squash courts and safari soft play remain available.

The image of sport in Finsbury Park is perhaps dominated by the Emirates Stadium, but you don't have to be Theo Walcott to get a game of football here. Arsenal In The Community is a charitable foundation providing sports and social inclusion oppotunities in the local area, and the Kickz programme for young people will be continuing to run throughout the summer.

Adults looking for more unusual fitness opportunities can try The Factory, a members gym offering a range of dance classes alongside the more usual aerobics and toning sessions. Shimmy your way to cardiac fitness and toned muscles with Zumba(R) Fitness, or try Salsa, Bollywood, Contemporary or The Factory's speciality, Tango. Islington Arts Factory and The Basement Dance Studio also offer adult and children's dance classes.

Don't forget that the park itself offers a wide range of leisure options, including basketball and tennis courts, rowing on the boating lake, tag rugby, the new outdoor gym and the weekly 5k Parkrun. If you like your sport a little more indoorsy and a little less puff-inducing, Rowan's Tenpin Bowl has long been a staple of Finsbury Park leisure activity.

Sports clubs in N4 are eligible for funding from Sport Islington, and for tax benefits from the Community Amateur Sports Scheme. If you run a club, don't miss out! And remember to let us know about your events and activities below.
