How does your garden grow? Well, say RHS judges.
The "In Bloom" awards recognise the hard work of community gardeners, businesses, schools and residents. The awards support gardening and horticulture, with a particular focus on community participation and environmental sustainability.
Islington earned awards in seven other categories, including Best Town Centre for Angel and first place in the Community Garden category for King Henry's Walk.
A Silver Gilt award went to Whittington Park in Upper Holloway, and Gillespie Park near Arsenal won third place in the Conservation category.
The RHS judges said: "A major contribution of the London Borough of Islington 'In Bloom' initiative is the full involvement of all sections of the community."
Cllr Paul Smith, Islington Council's Executive Member for Environment said: "This award belongs to all the residents, businesses and schools who put in so much time and effort.Their work makes a huge difference to Islington and is a vital addition to the council's work in our streets, parks, and open spaces."
