Delicious dining in Finsbury Park
Thai restaurant Cats Cafe des Artistes is something of a Finsbury Park legend. A dark wood facade on Stroud Green Road conceals a huge interior, full of carved wood tables and seats and oriental art objects. "The food is good and fresh too," reader Jessicarosee tells us, "full of flavour unlike some of the Thai places springing up across London" Seamus on Twitter adds, "Cats is awesome, and has a tuk-tuk." (It does indeed have its own tuk-tuk, sadly not for hire).
Equally popular is Turkish restaurant Petek, just across the road from Cats, which reader Willone praised for its "excellent food and service at very reasonable prices." Business at the family-run restaurant seems to be booming - Petek expanded last year and since that extension offers both lunch and dinner sittings. The restaurant is has a warm and friendly atmosphere and a large selection of hot and cold mezes, kebabs and Turkish grills. Delish.
Reader Kemblek recommends Chez Liline just up the road - she calls this Mauritian seafood restaurant "one of the best fish restaurants I know" and says "the quality far exceeds anything that is available nearby." Booking is recommended at this smart establishment that offers both a la carte and prix fixe menus (expect to pay around £20 for 3 courses on the prix fixe). The menu is very fish-centric, but vegetarians can be catered for with notice.
Reader Suey recommends Il Bacio on Blackstock Road for Italian cusine, and Ethiopian restaurant Senke on Rock Street - we haven't visited, so if anyone would like to tell us about these places we'd love to hear more!
