Haringey councillor Richard Wilson and Lynne Featherstone MP have launched a campaign for a safer road crossing on Upper Tollington Park near Stroud Green Primary School after residents raised concerns about speeding traffic.

Campaigners want the crossing on Upper Tollington Park improved
Local police have recently stepped up traffic patrols in the area, and Wilson notes in his blog that cars have recently been issued with tickets for speeding, failing to stop at a crosing and driving while using a mobile phone.
Residents have been concerned for some time about the existing zebra crossing, which has resulted in one recent accident between a car and a motorcycle. Local people add there are regular problems with aggressive drivers failing to slow or stop for the crossing, and report frequent "near misses".
Electronic speed signs have now been installed in the area, but Wilson and fellow campaigners want to get the zebra crossing upgraded to a full pelican crossing with traffic lights. An online petition has been set up here, and is still gathering signatures.
