According to recent research, Londoners are each responsible for 12 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Islington Council has launched the 10:10 campaign, inviting residents to pledge to save 10% of their carbon in 2010.

The Green Living Centre suggest that any one of these actions would meet the target of 1.2 tonnes per year: reducing your meat and dairy consumption (try having a meat-free day each week); taking one fewer long-haul flight per year; making your home more eco-friendly with energy saving lightbulbs, insulation and efficient heating, or by switching off appliances when not in use.

For more advice on making your home more energy-efficient and to share your 10:10 tips, pop into the Green Living Centre at 222 Upper Street; or contact the centre on email greenliving@islington.gov.uk or phone 020 7527 4462
