An angelic host, yesterday.
A number of local libraries are offering Christmas Crafts sessions this week. Today at the Mildmay Library on Mildmay Park (nearest tube Highbury and Islington) you can make drummer boys and angels from 4-5.30pm; then on Friday there's a card and decoration-making session from 10am to 12noon at the West Library on Bridgeman Road (nearest tube Calendonian Road).
The Central Library on Fieldway Crescent (nearest tube Highbury and Islington) also has a Christmas card-making workshop on Monday 21st December from 2.30-4pm, and at the same venue tomorrow from 11-12 there's storytelling and carol singing with Father Christmas!
Eco-minded families might like to visit the Green Living Centre's free Christmas party on Monday. We're promised green activities, festive treats and a visit from Green Santa (I don't know who Green Santa is, but I assume he's not just Father Christmas after one too many sherries). The party kicks off at 2pm down at the Town Hall on Upper Street.
On Tuesday 22nd December, Holy Trinity Church will be hosting Carols on the Green. Join the singers from 8pm on the corner of Granville and Stapleton Hall Roads for a spot of winter wassailing. A traditional Midnight Mass with carols will also take place at Holy Trinity from 11pm on Christmas Eve.
Finally, there's a whole raft of Christmas fun down at the City Road Basin Plaza on Regent's Canal from 12 noon on Sunday 20th - boat trips, a floating Santa's Grotto, mince pies, carol singers, mulled wine and guaranteed snow are among the attractions, and there's also a Christmas market to help you with any last-minute shopping panics. Santa would like to remind everyone to consume mulled wine in moderation, especially if driving a sleigh home afterwards. Nearest tube is Angel.
With all this on offer, there's no excuse not to have a cracking Christmas!
