London TravelWatch is backing a campaign to extend bus route 210 from Brent Cross to Finsbury Park up to South Tottenham and Stamford Hill.

The campaign group, which represents London's transport users, conducted a survey and found "there is a substantial demand for a bus service between Golders Green and Stamford Hill." Transport users in this area currently use private cars, minicabs, taxis, shared minibuses or Dial-a-ride to reach their destinations.

Campaigners from Barnet, Hackney and Haringey urged Haringey Council to support the call for the bus route's extension at a council meeting last week. Extending the route notrh would mean that residents of South Tottenham and Stamford Hill will be within easy reach of Finsbury Park tube and overground stations and be able to travel to Golders green, Brent Cross and the Whittington Hospital.

The campaign will also lobby Transport for London on this issue.

Council leader Councillor Claire Kober said: "I understand the need for this bus route and I support the suggestion of a bus route right through to the hospital." An extension to the bus route will now be proposed at City Hall.

As long as it doesn't affect the frequency on other parts of the route then I would support this
