Hornsey Community Centre careers day offers positive choices

Hornsey Vale Community Centre on Mayfield Road is running an event for young people aged 14 to 25. The event, organised by Stroud Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team and Haringey Council, will allow local young people to access free information and advice about jobs, careers, education, youth groups and leisure activities in the area.

The event will be held on February 18, and aims to tackle antisocial behaviour among young people. Sergeant Bob Stevenson of Stroud Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team said, "We want to help our young people get involved in the vast range of activities available to them.

Representatives from the field of education (The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, Haringey Sixth Form Centre and Middlesex University) and emplyment (London Fire Brigade and London Underground Apprenticeships) will be there, alongside careers advisors who canl help young people with CV writing.

The event hopes to get young people in the borough involved in constructive activities and encourage them away from negative influences, said Sergeant Stevenson.

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CHENEL), Haringey Sixth Form Centre, Middlesex University, London Fire Brigade and London Underground Apprenticeships are some of names from the education or employment sector that will attend.

Free refreshments will be provided, and all visitors who register their details on arrival will be entered into a prize draw.The event runs between 2pm and 5pm at Hornsey Vale Community Centre, 60 Mayfield Road, N8 9LP.
