These signs are springing up (excuse the pun) across the Finsbury Park area. Does anyone have any idea what these signs mean? Where is this water? What does it do? Why should thieves beware of it?

"The recession has seen theft soar 25 per cent and shoplifting 10 per cent. The number of burglaries has also increased for the first time in six years" - Does anyone know if we can apply for the water or do we have to wait for a visit?

I had a visit from the police about four years ago offering me the chance to dab my electrical goods with a smart water kit.  From what the policeman said, it's so that they have evidence on whether or not a product has been stolen.   At the time, he said that there'd been a spate of robberies with most of the goods ending up on Blackstock Road. As I said, this conversation did occur several years go so it may no longer be the case.

SmartWater is a colorless liquid used to invisibly mark personal property ranging from electrical items to vehicles. Each pack of SmartWater contains a unique code which is registered to an individual address. Police can trace stolen items back to the owner using the code.
