We recently reported on the planning application for the City North development near Fonthill Road. The application has been approved by Islington Council, and will now go to the Mayor of London's office for final approval.

City North will be a new landmark in Finsbury Park
The development of 355 flats, shops and offices will feature two 105-metre high skyscraper towers, taller than the London Stock Exchange. 20% of the flats will be affordable housing, and the site will include a new bar and restaurant as well as retail units.
Developer Jack Morris proposed the "landmark transformational scheme" in order to "kick start the regeneration of Finsbury Park". The RIBA competition-winning design was created by the same firm that remodelled Upper Street's Business Design Centre in 1986. The scheme received just 18 local objections during the consultation period.
City North Islington will also create a new pedestrian street between Wells Terrace and Goodwin Street. The 9,000 square-metre development, the most significant in the area since Emirates Stadium, is expected to begin construction within three years.
Islington Council leader Terry Stacy called the scheme "long overdue", saying: "Finsbury Park needs regeneration. This
scheme will do that."
Do you agree? Will the new development bring jobs, visitors and trade to the Finsbury Park area, or will it be one more concrete eyesore for North London? Have your say below!

ReportFinsbury park already has a fantastic transport links and if there are good quality office / commercial spaces, I think people will start setting up new businesses and liven up the area more not just to use the Finsbury park as a passing-point.

ReportAny thing around the station area is an improvement and as above something like the Brunswick Centre would be great.
But we really need a redevelopment of the triangle immediately opposite Station Place bordering Seven Sisters Rd and Stroud Green Road. Knock the whole block down would be ideal but failing that a serious refurb and some nice shops/bars. Its the first thing everyone sees of Finsbury Park so vital to improving it
Simpler than that is making the areas under the two railway bridges pleasanter- just brightening them up and possibly getting rid of the shop under the Seven Sister Bridge selling clothes out of a hole in the wall.

ReportLooks good. Be even better if someone could come up with a plan to demolish- or seriously do up with nice shops- the triangle immediately in front of Station Place. Its the first thing people see of Finsbury Park and it has looked **** for years.
