UpRise festival confirmed

The organisers of UpRise have confirmed there will definitely be a festival this summer, despite the event not yet meeting its funding targets.

"We've decided we have come

too far to stop now,"  said co-organiser Mike

Barnardon the UpRise website, "We've got the expertise, know-how and plans

together for an event worthy of carrying the legacy of Rise Festival

and we are committed to that event."

UpRise, planned as a successor event to the annual Rise anti-racism music festival, has to date raised almost £20,000 towards this year's happening. "e pledge to put on

an event for you even if we don't reach our target," says Mike, "and we are

committed to making UpRise an annual event which will grow - 2011 will

be bigger and better!"
