Walk This Way - TfL's Winter Wander passes through Finsbury Park

Transport for London and Walk London are co-organising the 8th weekend series of guided "Winter Wanders" through various parts of the capital today and tomorrow, including a scenic route through the Capital Ring which passes through Finsbury Park.

The walks are free and family-friendly, with walkers invited to turn up on the day and walk with no need to pre-book. Guides around London will take walkers through a series of over thirty walks on the seven routes making up the Strategic Walk Network for London. Walks range from one to ten miles long, and up to 50 people can join any one walk.

Section 12 of the Capital Ring walk starts at Priory Gardens near Highgate Station and continues along the Parkland Walk through Finsbury Park, following the New River to Stoke Newington station. The walk boasts scenery that Walk London calls "surprisingly green in such a densely populated part of London". The walk is 6 miles long and rated as an easy "Suburban Stride" by the organisers. A map of the route can be found here.

Walk London are hoping that the Winter Wander events across London will attract over 1000 participants this weekend. To join the walk, meet at Priory Gardens, Highgate, at 1pm. The walk is expected to take 2 hours and 45 minutes. For further information, email info@walklondon.org.uk or call 0870 240 6094, or watch this YouTube video!
