A message from Cllr Catherine West about the Whittington Hospital meeting

A new year has begun and it is time to think again about our task of saving the Whittington Hospital and its Accident & Emergency Department.

The Whittington Hospital admits over 80,000 patients to A&E each year

The Whittington Hospital admits over 80,000 patients to A&E each year

Over the next weeks, local health care trusts will begin to discuss proposals for the future of hospital care in North London - including the Whittington.  We must put pressure on at every stage to stand up for Whittington Hospital’s A&E.

That is why we are organising a meeting on Monday January 25th at Archway Methodist Church from 7.00pm.  The meeting will discuss what we need to do in the coming months to save our hospital and it will get answers to the questions you put to NHS Islington before the Christmas break.

Last year, our campaign to save the Whittington made great strides. In just a few weeks we built the support of thousands of people in our community.  We scored our first success when NHS London agreed to consider keeping the Whittington A&E open.

But we mustn’t stop there – there is plenty more to do.

We must make sure that, as local health trusts discuss the future of the Whittington, we do all we can to let them now how important our hospital is.

That is why I hope you will come to the public meeting on Monday January 25th.
