Four wheels good: Crouch End's James McAvoy has licence to drive

Actor, heartthrob and classic motorcycle enthusiast James McAvoy is set to put another two wheels on the roads of Crouch End after passing his driving test.

The 30-year old star of Atonement decided to switch to a Ford Focus after learning that he and his wife, actor Anne-Marie Duff, were expecting their first child, and learned in just 25 hours on a two-week intensive driving course.

McAvoy passed the test with five minor faults at Barnet Test Centre earlier this month, having failed a first test seven years ago. Driving instructore Yousouff Mahamedally said,"With a family coming he needs to

drive a car that is much more safe and secure, so he needed to get the

licence."

"I didn't realise he was such a big actor until we turned up at the test centre, he's a superstar, continued Mahamedally. "He's so down to earth, a really

unassuming next door neighbour sort of guy and he did really well in

such a short space of time."Mr McAvoy is likely to begin his driving life in the family Clio. Reports that Angelina Jolie would sit in as co-driver were at the time of writing unconfirmed.
