The Faltering Fullback in Perth Road is probably one of Finsbury Parks best pubs, as you can probably tell from the busy and buzzy atmosphere in the evenings. A quirky vine-covered building with an extensive patio area, this is a great place to go with a group of friends for a few games of pool and some good beers.

The Faltering Fullback in Perth Road is probably one of Finsbury Parks best pubs, as you can probably tell from the busy and buzzy atmosphere in the evenings. A quirky vine-covered building with an extensive patio area, this is a great place to go with a group of friends for a few games of pool and some good beers.

Smokers' paradise
The Fullback deserves praise for the surely most imaginative reaction to the smoking ban seen in London. The garden was last year transformed into something of a treehouse for grown-ups - a multi-level deck with benches built into the walls. Has to be seen! There's plenty of merit inside too - lots of indoor rooms including a beer-hall style section for sports fans, a couple of cosy fairy-light lit rooms for friends and couples and a rather good Thai kitchen. The usual suspects behind the bar alongside a couple of great local wines. Rightly one of the most popular spots round these parts.

Awful Service
The Faltering Fullback has the potential to be a great, cosy local but, in fact, is a dreadful place. We booked our christmas party there - even re-confirming on the day. As it happened we were a bit late (say 40 mins) and by the time we got there they had given away our table and point blank refused to seat us or accomodate us in any way and wouldn't move the group who had taken our space. In the end we had to get the landlord down who made some half-hearted attempts to clear some space for us in a crowded and not very cosy space out the back. They then wanted us to pay for all drinks and food individually and in cash ... when there were 20 of us all eating and drinking. Truly terrible service!

Fullback doesn't put a foot wrong
The Faltering Fullback is tucked away in a pleasant back street off Stroud Green Road and houses a front bar, saloon bar and a sheltered beer garden ideal for those balmy summer nights we haven't seen for a few months.
The pub serves handpulled real ale alongside a selection of lagers, wines and spirits, and peckish pubgoers can sample a range of delicious Thai food cooked fresh to order.
Monday's quiz nights are for the faithful only, but for a cosy atmosphere and pleasant vittels, the Fallback never falters.
