On Sunday September 5, the Rainforest Foundation UK will be holding its 10th annual Rainforest 10k Run. The event is the Foundation's biggest annual fundraiser, and takes place in September rather than November this year. This is the third year that the Rainforest 10k has taken place in Finsbury Park, and organisers hope it will become a regular fixture here. The inaugural Finsbury Park Race for Life, in aid of Cancer Research UK, attracted over 3,000 runners, joggers and walkers over the course of two days this weekend. Around 1,000 athletes atended Saturday's 10k run, with a further 2,000 women joining Sunday's 5k run in the park. As we reported in January, Haringey Council's planned consultation with residents about plans for ten new 5-a-side football pitches in Finsbury Park is now underway. The team at Try Tag Rugby have announced a series of summer Tag Rugby competitions starting on 22 April in Finsbury Park. Tag Rugby is a minimal contact team game in which each player wears shorts with velcro patches with two tags attached to them.
